FAQs
Why Legacy Pursuit?
I am from a family of entrepreneurs – my grandfather started an ice factory which has expanded and employs many locals today. My dad expanded the family business to include a workshop for farm equipment repair. He persevered despite losing his job multiple times and experiencing many failed ventures. While he created a pathway for the family to become financially stable, he did not realize that his Legacy was so much more – the attitude with which he carried himself. He was patient and always put others first. This was reflected in his business, nonprofits, and family. Legacy Pursuit was created for someone looking to sell their business but also create a legacy.
What motivates me?
For some people, it’s a one word answer. Money or ownership or responsibility? For me, it’s everything. It's the employees - knowing that I have to keep the lights on so I can make payroll. It's the product and service - knowing that we are trying to deliver on a promise every day. It's the customers - figuring out how to meet the customer's expectations even when it seems like everything is going wrong. It's the business - wanting to make the business better every day so that we can all reap the benefits.
Will I be able to handle the demands of running your company?
I genuinely believe so. What I know how to do is run things, manage things, and get work done. I have a deep tank of energy where I can keep fighting when I should be out of fuel. I worked in oil where I was out on job sites for up to two weeks at a time before getting a day off. I've had to travel internationally for months and I've grinded through days with no sleep. I managed a warehouse team that did the daily, weekly, and yearly capacity planning for a warehouse. I think your business is going to be unique and have its own challenges. However, I am motivated to learn the nuances of your business and do my best to keep the lights on.
How do I introduce change?
I try to take a thoughtful approach to doing so and consider who it is that I am impacting. Sometimes, I can work through others to make change happen. Sometimes, I need to make the change happen. Sometime I bring everyone along for the ride. Sometimes, I cannot speak about the change until it happens.
Am I willing to do the hard thing?
I have in the past, and I'll continue doing that in the future. I operate based on principles and stand behind those.
About Rahul
Rahul was raised in the western suburbs of Chicago to immigrants focused on building opportunities for their son that they themselves had not experienced growing up in India.
Having watched his parents sacrifice comforts for financial stability and to support family, Rahul became a scrappy kid motivated to treat every expense as an investment. Through his childhood, he developed a love for exploration and problem solving, tackling furniture assembly and puzzle-based games as challenges to overcome.
Rahul attended Penn where he studied Chemical Engineering and chose to work in hands-on environments. He experienced many different career opportunities in oil & gas, information systems, and warehouse management, all of which included people, project, and operations management. Throughout his professional and personal experiences, Rahul thrived in environments that contained ambiguity and imperfect information and appreciated working with teams that required servant leadership. Though he achieved success in these varied careers, he was still set on understanding his drive and desired impact. Owning and operating a business is the best intersection between his operations experience and entrepreneurial drive.
Rahul is surrounded by family and friends who challenge, comfort, and support him, which helps him maintain a healthy balance between confidence and humility. In his spare time, you can find him playing cards or board games with his family and friends. Rahul loves hiking and backpacking and he’s a big fan of traveling both domestically and internationally so he can experience cultures that are outside his own.
